Other Interesting Points about The Wright Stuff
More than 50,000 young
people have experienced the Wright Stuff since the year
2000.
Steve Wright, artistic
director of The Wright Stuff, has created well over 50
original characters to address issues surrounding drugs,
sex, alcohol, family life and teenage problems.
His puppets have appeared
in a wide variety of venues ranging from classrooms and
village halls to the West End stage.
Steve is a self-taught
puppeteer who worked alongside five other artists to
form The Wright Stuff, which is based in Huddersfield.
He started working with young people after Kirklees
Youth Services asked him to put on summer puppet
workshops. He has since created several humorous
productions aimed at young people.
The pieces we do are big
on laughs with lots of street characters," Steve said.
"It creates a great atmosphere and, after the
performance, it's easy to discuss those issues around
that character."
