Lifeline Kirklees
Family Drugs Service
Whilst Lifeline looks at individuals and their
specific needs we also believe in an inclusive approach
in relation to family wherever appropriate and possible
and use this approach in all our services.
Lifeline's Family Drug Service in Kirklees is funded
by the Children's Fund Kirklees. The service is the
first of its kind in the UK and aims to help people in
Kirklees who are affected by substance misuse in the
family.
The service aims to address the needs of brothers,
sisters, parents, and grand-parents that are affected by
substance misuse. This is offered in the form of
advocacy, counselling, group work and family mediation,
which hopefully will lessen the impact of drug use on
the family, and reduce the risk of family breakdown.
The Family Drugs Service also focuses on the needs of
young people aged between 5-13 years old who have
parents with a substance misuse problem. This is offered
in the form of group work, individual counselling, group
counselling, mentoring and provision of activities that
increase self esteem and support, outside the home
environment.
