Lifeline Kirklees
Volunteering, Peer
Education & Buddies
Lifeline Kirklees is committed to offering
individuals the opportunity to develop their skills in
working within this area and therefore strengthen the
capacity of the drugs and alcohol sector as a whole with
regards to workforce skills and knowledge development.
Through our Outlook programme we offer individuals
the opportunity to get involved within the range of
services available within Lifeline through volunteering
and specifically targeted peer education work. We also
operate a buddy service.
Peer education is an opportunity for individuals who
have misused drugs or alcohol to use their experiences
to support others in a real and positive way. Lifeline
Kirklees has recently developed peer education
opportunities in the areas of harm minimisation, service
promotion and DTTO support and are always looking at
creative ways to continue to develop in this area in a
positive way.
Our Buddy service offers support to substance users
to access and engage with various services by offering
friendly and welcoming support to people who have been
identified as needing a service from Lifeline ie
accompanying people from one Lifeline service to another
and or external appointments where appropriate.
